Manchester United are reportedly keen on the West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder is on the radar of Manchester City as per Fichajes, and it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get the deal done. He will add creativity, drive and technical ability to the Manchester United midfield.

The Brazilian international has established himself as a key player for West Ham and he is well-settled in the Premier League. He could make an immediate impact at Manchester United if they can get the deal done.

It is no secret that the Red Devils will have to improve their midfield options in the summer, and the South American could prove to be the ideal acquisition. He has the physical and technical attributes to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the league. In the right team, Paqueta could be a very influential player. He can operate as the central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. Paqueta has eight goals and seven assists in all competitions this season.

Man City want Lucas Paqueta as well

Competing with Manchester City will be very difficult for Manchester United and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The defending champions have greater financial resources and pull compared to their crosstown rivals. Manchester United are going through a period of rebuild and top players might not be keen on joining them right now. Manchester City are certainly a more attractive destination. They have a proven track record of winning major trophies on a consistent basis.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign the midfielder at the end of the season. They will have to offer him a lucrative contract in order to convince the player as well.

If Manchester United can plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window, there is no reason why they cannot bounce back strongly and push for trophies once again.
