Marcus Rashford is set to leave Manchester United this month one way or the other, having fallen out of favour under new manager Ruben Amorim.

There are a number of top clubs pursuing his signature this month, with FC Barcelona among those as they look to strengthen their attacking unit.

As reported earlier today, though, the Blaugrana are facing stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund in the race for the England forward.

Rashford prioritises Barcelona

However, according to Miguel Rico, even though Rashford has attracted interest from other clubs, he has made it clear that his priority is to play for Barcelona.

The 27-year-old’s versatility – able to play on the wing or as a central striker- makes him a strong fit for manager Hansi Flick’s system.

Despite his apparent quality, the forward has struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup under Amorim.

The England international, who is eager to join Barcelona, would be welcomed by the club, provided they can make room under Financial Fair Play regulations through player departures.

However, Barcelona’s interest in the 27-year-old Englishman is strictly for a loan deal, with no intention to sign him permanently.

Barcelona, though, are mindful of their financial limitations, and the €350,000 per week salary that Rashford earns presents a significant challenge.

Such a hefty wage, unless reduced, would be difficult for the Catalan club to justify, especially considering that Rashford would not be a guaranteed starter but rather a backup option for the frontline currently comprising Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha.

While the move is still up in the air, Rashford’s future could hinge on his desire to join Barcelona and the club’s ability to negotiate the terms of a loan deal.
