The Manchester United management wasn’t pleased at all with some of the statements made by Ruben Amorim in previous weeks.

The 40-year-old took the helm in November following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, but he was hardly able to enjoy a proper honeymoon at Old Trafford. The Portuguese found himself in a sea of difficulties while the Red Devils continue to plummet further and further in the table.

United currently sit in a miserable 15th place in the Premier League table, while some believe Amorim already regrets leaving his comfort zone at Sporting CP.

But aside from his increasingly debated tactics, the new boss has also caused quite a stir on the microphone. For instance, he recently admitted that this might just be the worst Man Utd edition throughout the club’s history. This controversial statement ensued in the wake of the team’s 1-3 defeat to Brighton last month.

So according to the Daily Mail, this comment didn’t sit down well with the club directors who felt that Amorim had made their job an awful lot worse at a time when they were trying to acquire new players. As the source explains, the club’s officials considered his stance untimely and inappropriate at a time when they were convincing new stars to join.

“We’re trying to do deals and sell the United dream and he comes out with this,” a club employee reportedly complained. “Not helpful.”

Regardless of Amorim’s words, it doesn’t require deep due diligence to realise that United are indeed in a miserable status. Nevertheless, a few cheerful words from the manager would have been much appreciated at the headquarters in Carrington.

So it remains to be seen if this troubled marriage will survive beyond the current campaign.
