Manchester United have finally agreed a deal to sell Jadon Sancho after he emerged as a shock target for Premier League rivals Chelsea.

United spent £73m to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 but the winger underwhelmed at Old Trafford.

After two largely ineffective campaigns at United, Sancho was sent back to Dortmund on loan last season and seemed to rediscover his form at the Bundesliga club and played in the Champions League final.

Erik ten Hag claimed last month that he had put his ongoing spat with Sancho to one side and was ready to reintegrate the 24-year-old into his first-team squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

But that was difficult to believe after United’s opening two games of the new season, with Sancho left out of the squad for both games.

Despite his torrid time in Manchester, Sancho attracted interest from fellow Premier League club Chelsea, who were keen to secure his signature in exchange for Raheem Sterling, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by new Stamford Bridge boss Enzo Maresca.

Sterling was ready to accept an offer from Manchester United which would have boosted Chelsea’s chances of signing Sancho but the Red Devils have now agreed a deal with another club.

United struck an agreement with Serie A giants Juventus on Wednesday over a deal for Sancho which will see him join on loan this season before completing a permanent move next summer, according to RMC Sport.
