Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will soon be able to count on the services of Jonny Evans and Ayden Heaven.
The Portuguese manager has had to deal with several injury issues at the back in recent weeks. Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out of action for several months due to a devastating ACL injury. Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire both had spells on the treatment table, but have recently returned to action.
On the other hand, Matthijs de Ligt suffered a knock last Tuesday against Nottingham Forest which ruled him out of Sunday’s Manchester Derby. The Dutchman will be hoping for a swift recovery, but in the meantime, another two centre-backs are edging towards their respective returns to action.
“Jonny Evans and Ayden Heaven are both on grass training and making positive recovery,” revealed Man Utd insider Sully on his X account.
“Ayden’s rehab is going well with United making sure not to rush him back too soon. Two centre backs, which will be a HUGE boost for Amorim as we enter the final stages of the season.”
Jonny Evans & Ayden Heaven return to grass training

37-year-old Evans was last seen in action in mid-December, during the Red Devils’ Carabao Cup defeat to Spurs.
On the other hand, 18-year-old Heaven picked up a knock a few weeks back during the Premier League win over Leicester City. There have been many speculations about the teenager’s injury as of late, especially after the emergence of pictures with the player sporting a protective boot.
Nevertheless, sources insisted this was only a precautionary measure, as the youngster’s injury isn’t as serious as initially feared.
With the duo now returning to grass training, they are unlikely to be fit for Thursday’s first leg against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals, but they could regain their fitness for some of the other crucial fixtures, especially if the Red Devils manage to go far in the European tournament.
