The 22-year-old Englishman has attracted interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the January window while Premier League scouts have also been sent to watch him.
It is thought that Atletico have opened talks to sign Greenwood, who is on a season-long loan at Getafe following United’s probe into his conduct.
But Barcelona are determined to land Greenwood themselves following his impressive spell in La Liga and want to give him their iconic No.10 shirt.
Greenwood, who saw charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control dropped in February 2023 after his arrest the previous year, has registered nine goal involvements across 17 games in all competitions for Getafe.
‘Everything’s fine [at Getafe],’ Greenwood said. ‘I adapted pretty quickly. Teammates took me under their wing and I’ve just been happy ever since, coming here and training, playing the games. I’m happy.
‘The fans mean a lot to me. The best feeling so far is when I scored my first goal here at the stadium and it meant a lot to me, I heard the fans quite a lot.
‘Also we had the training day and a lot of fans came out to watch so we always appreciate the fans.
‘They’re like an extra man out there on the pitch when they’re out there supporting us.’
Getafe find themselves ninth in the Spanish top-flight after their opening 19 games and they face Sevilla in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
