While the best national teams are still crossing swords at Euro 2024 in Germany and the Copa América 2024 in the United States, the biggest teams in the world are already busy behind the scenes to prepare their summer strategy for this summer transfer window. And even the most competitive teams do not say no to several reinforcements, this is the case of Manchester City which comes out of a new conclusive exercise with a Premier League pocketed, a European Super Cup won, a Club World Cup gleaned but also two finals lost in the FA Cup and the Community Shield. However, the management of the Sky Blues has always been very clear: the goal is to win everything and not leave any crumbs to the British and European competition. Especially since next season could well mark the last campaign under the leadership of Pep Guardiola.

Indeed, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is not expected to extend his contract with the Cityzens and could therefore leave the Mancunian club at the end of the 2025 season after nine years on the bench in the north of England and numerous trophies won since his arrival in 2016. At least, this is what several English media outlets have reported, including the Daily Mail and the Telegraph last May. The main person concerned had also left doubts hanging: “The reality is that I’m closer to leaving than staying. I already had that feeling last season. When we won the Champions League in Istanbul, I said to myself: ‘It’s over. What am I still doing here? It’s over, there’s nothing left to do'”. But the Manchester City management remains firm and wants to convince the Catalan tactician to extend the contract of the most successful coach in its history. In this sense, the leaders are ready to pull out all the stops this summer to sweep the board next season.

A totally surprise recruit picked up from La Liga!

Currently with Brazil at the Copa América, last season’s revelation in La Liga, Sávio, will finally join the ranks of Manchester City this summer. This is indeed what the Catalan daily reports World Sports. The trend was however to extend his loan via ESTAC in the Girona club which will play, as a reminder, the Champions League during the 2024/2025 campaign. Sávio’s arrival at Manchester City is not yet official, given that the club must wait for authorization from UEFA. Indeed, Troyes, the team with which he is currently under contract, also belongs to the City Football Group galaxy. According to the regulations of the European institution, transfers between clubs of the same owner are not authorized. The final decision will be made once the various continental tournaments have finished. Although he won the Premier League, the Catalan coach is not satisfied and has asked for reinforcements. This is why he wanted to quickly lock in Sávio’s arrival.

The Brazilian will thus take a place on the wings and strengthen an already well-stocked rotation with talented players such as Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish, although the Englishman could leave the club if an offer is received that satisfies all parties. In his last season with Girona, his performances attracted the attention of several big clubs on the Old Continent. And it is no wonder: Sávio established himself as one of Girona’s emerging stars, contributing significantly to their historic La Liga campaign, where the Catalan team secured an impressive 3rd place with 81 points and qualified for the Champions League for the first time. In his 41 appearances, Sávio scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 3,256 minutes. Furthermore, with the Seleção, he played 5 games, scoring one goal and providing one assist. The sky is still as blue as ever for the Sky Blues!
