The Skyblues, already weakened by numerous absences, see their situation complicated with a new injury.
Manchester City lost to Tottenham (2-1) this Wednesday in the round of 16 of the League Cup. The match quickly turned to Spurs’ advantage with Timo Werner opening the score, before Pape Matar Sarr scored the 2-0 goal, twenty minutes later. Matheus Nunes tried to revive the Citizens by reducing the score, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
This setback comes with more bad news for the Manchester team. Savinho, the Brazilian right winger in great shape since the start of the season, had to leave the field on a stretcher in the 63rd minute, injured in the ankle.
A first in nine years for City
This injury adds to a series of significant absences for the English champions, already deprived of Jérémy Doku, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker, as confirmed by Pep Guardiola.
“We have 13 players available, so we are in big trouble. The guys that play, most of them end up having problems and we’ll see how they recover. I think we are in trouble because in nine years we have never been in a situation with so many injuries,” lamented the Spanish technician at a press conference.
