Barcelona continue to map out their strategies for the summer transfer window, awaiting clarity from La Liga over a return to the 1:1 ruling, which would give them the freedom to operate in the market.

A top-level pivot is an absolute priority for the Catalan heavyweights, with Joshua Kimmich at the top of the wishlist, while a deal for Guido Rodriguez also appears to be closed.

However, given the financial situation, there is uncertainty on whether Kimmich can be signed or not, and as such, Barça are also looking at other options.

Barcelona offered Kalvin Phillips

Now, SPORT reports that Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips has offered him to Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.

Barça had already shown an interest in the England international in January but failed to make a move in time and he ended up joining West Ham United on loan.

After a middling spell in London, Phillips will return to Manchester City now where he has no place in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

As such, the Premier League champions would prefer to sell the midfielder permanently for a fee of around €30 million, but the likeliest outcome is another loan exit.

And, Phillips would love to join Barcelona as he believes that the Catalans’ style would fit him perfectly.

The Blaugrana’s sporting management values the player highly and, in fact, Xavi had given the OK to his arrival in January but Barça then prioritised the operation of Vitor Roque.

Phillips has several proposals from Premier League teams, but he would prioritise leaving England as long as there is a powerful Champions League sporting project that bets on him.

Barça are aware of the player’s desire but for now they are not going to make any move. The focus remains on closing Guido Rodriguez’s signing and trying to sign Joshua Kimmich.
