Journalist Carlos Carpio has shared on Radio Marca that FC Barcelona’s hopes of signing Joao Cancelo from Manchester City face significant obstacles due to complex negotiations.

It is no secret that Barcelona are very interested in keeping Cancelo, who played for them on loan last season. Though opinions about Cancelo vary among fans, the club’s sports department sees him as a valuable player.

Interestingly, the Portuguese international has received offers from several other teams, including Juventus and some teams in Saudi Arabia, but the player is determined to join Barcelona.

Cancelo has made it clear to his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he has no interest in moving to Saudi Arabia.

Cancelo only wants Barcelona

It is said that, Manchester City are eager to sell Cancelo permanently this summer. However, their asking price of €20 million and his high salary demands have made it difficult for other clubs to finalize a deal.

Since Cancelo is eager to return to Barcelona, the Spanish club might have an advantage in negotiations and both parties are hoping to reach an agreement soon

However, Barcelona have made it clear that their main focus right now is on strengthening their attacking lineup. They are prioritising the acquisitions of Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

Once these deals are secured, Barcelona are expected to turn their attention back to Cancelo.

Man City proving difficult to break

However, negotiating with Manchester City won’t be easy. The English club knows that Cancelo is a valuable player with a strong market presence. Unfortunately, Barcelona may struggle to meet Manchester City’s demands.

This situation creates a very complicated scenario for Barcelona. They need to navigate their financial constraints carefully while trying to secure the players they need.

The club’s interest in Cancelo is strong, but they are also aware of the challenges that come with negotiating such deals.

The full-back’s insistence on joining Barcelona is a significant factor in these negotiations and his unwillingness to consider other offers puts additional pressure on Manchester City to find a resolution.

However, the financial demands from both the player and his current club are proving to be a major sticking point.
