Lamine Yamal is the current Golden Boy holder and it is no surprise to see why he deserved the award despite being a year younger than most of his competitors.

After impressing under Xavi Hernandez, the 17-year-old has continued his form under Hansi Flick and is currently one of the creators in chief for Barcelona.

With five goals and ten assists in the league and a further four goal contributions in the UEFA Champions League, he is already acclaimed as one of the best right-wingers in the world and it is clear that the sky is the limit for him.

Manchester City star’s opinion

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Manchester City and England superstar Phil Foden was asked who the most gifted player in the world is currently, and he did not hesitate in naming a Barcelona star as his pick.

“The most gifted player in the world? Lamine Yamal.”

Elaborating on his pick and why he considers the Barcelona youngster so supremely talented, he said,

“[He is] A freak of nature. I look at him and his decision-making for such a young kid is unbelievable, one of the best I’ve seen. He’s got everything.”

Finally, he spoke highly of Yamal’s ability to enjoy the game as it is without falling into the trap of pressure or the heat of the moment during games.

“One thing I like about him is that I don’t think the pressure gets to him, he plays with a smile on his face and just enjoys football, as it should be.”

Yamal will next feature in Barcelona’s clash against Rayo Vallecano later this week and will look to continue his rich vein of form in the Blaugrana colors. After all, he will be a critical part of the team’s success this season.
