This Thursday afternoon, Manchester City hosted Everton for the 18th day of the Premier League. Stuck in the crisis, Pep Guardiola’s men found themselves obliged to return to victory.
It got off to a good start with an opening goal shortly before the quarter-final. Near the near post, Bernardo Silva found the net by tackling the ball with his left foot (1-0, 14th). The Toffees would not take too long to react. Totally alone at the far post, Iliman N’Diaye equalized from outside the right (1-1, 34th).
Manchester City, still in crisis
The Citizens pushed at the start of the second half to get back in front on the scoreboard. Due to a delayed tackle by James Tarkowski on Savinho, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Pickford diverted Haaland’s attempt, but the Norwegian striker finished victoriously, in a second stage, with a header. Or so he thought. Because his goal was refused for an offside position.
Following this draw (1-1), Manchester City is absolutely not reassured. Foden and his teammates are in sixth place in the league, eleven points behind leader Liverpool, and with two games more than the Reds. They even find themselves under threat from their four direct pursuers, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Fulham and Brighton.
