Manchester United, 11 players victims of an XXL sweep

Manchester United’s 2024 summer transfer window should be very eventful. No less than eleven players could be invited to leave.

Each passing Premier League season takes Manchester United further away from its glorious past. Flagship club of the English championship during the 90s and for more than the first decade of the 2000s, the Mancunian club never recovered from the departure of its legendary coach, Sir Alex Ferguson. Since then, coaches have succeeded one another with varying degrees of success, but without ever being able to match Ferguson’s standards. This year again, the Red Devils are stalling and the entry of Sir Jim Radcliffe into the capital of the club could however change the situation.

The latter has already promised that there will soon be changes at different levels of the club. United’s locker room should therefore not escape this wind of change. According to ESPN, many players will be invited to look elsewhere. The media explained that no less than eleven elements would be affected. This Friday, he even mentioned several names. Some are not really a surprise and were already circulating among the potential starters for this winter. Former Real Madrid players Raphaël Varane and Casemiro will not be selected next June.

Doubts and certainties

Same thing for Christian Eriksen, no longer really in the plans of his trainer, Erik ten Hag. In midfield, the case of Scott McTominay, a saver on several occasions this season, but considered too inconsistent, is also studied. But the defense sector is also concerned. Aaron Wan-Bissaka will reach the end of his contract in 2025 and the possibility of leaving is being considered, unless he agrees to extend quickly. Victor Lindelöf shouldn’t give up old either. As for Harry Maguire, his name is also mentioned but the England international, now a starter again, could be retained.

This leaves four other players whose names are not given by the media. This could include strikers Antony and Anthony Martial, two other big Mancunian disappointments unable to meet the high expectations that Manchester United management had placed on them upon their arrival.
