Manchester United accelerate for two recruits

Manchester United are definitely cursed. Still under the orders of Erik ten Hag, the residents of Old Trafford have started this new 2024-25 season with bad news since Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro are injured. Two hard blows. The Dane, who has been playing for the Mancunians for a season, went off injured (hamstring) during the friendly against Arsenal organized in the United States (2-1 defeat). He will be sidelined for six weeks and will miss the start of the Red Devils’ season.

Same for Leny Yoro. Arriving during this summer transfer window for nearly €70 million, the French defender fractured his left foot after 33 minutes of play against the Gunners. For him, the absence period is estimated at three months. A real disaster. To make matters worse, Manchester United are now holding their breath for Marcus Rashford. The latter went off injured yesterday during the friendly against Betis in San Diego (3-2 victory). News that does not help matters for the English and Erik ten Hag.

MU changes its plans

This Thursday, the Telegraph explains that faced with this massacre, the Manchester management has decided to accelerate the movement and will recruit to strengthen certain positions. Even before Yoro’s injury, MU was considering getting their hands on another central defender. Now, the Red Devils want to quickly complete an arrival. The Telegraph cites the names of Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), with whom they have the beginnings of an agreement, and Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton).

A more complex case since the Toffees have set his price at £75 million, or around €88.8 million. Problem, MU, who have already made an initial offer of €60 million (bonuses included), do not plan to go crazy. Forced towards the exit, Victor Lindelöf could be kept if the English do not secure a new arrival. As for the offensive sector, it is Ivan Toney who is Ten Hag’s top priority. Here again, they will have to pay up since Brentford are asking for around €71 million. Man U therefore have their work cut out for them and must resolve these two priority cases, not to mention the one concerning Manuel Ugarte.
