Manchester United are considering signing AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, but the deal is still in its early stages.

A few weeks after registering the arrival of Leny Yoro, Manchester United continues its recruitment work as part of the 2024 summer transfer window. Since the arrival of the new minority shareholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the desire for renewal is there and several players have been invited to find a new club. At the same time, the management of Red Devils wants to recruit new faces, even if the envelope is not huge and he has to sell before buying. He is now targeting Youssouf Fofana.

Perhaps a new tricolor in the Mancunian ranks, even if the deal still seems very far from being done. If the AS Monaco midfielder were to arrive, United would first have to part ways with Casemiro. According to Skysportscontact has nevertheless been established between Manchester and Fofana’s representatives and initial discussions have taken place. For the moment, no concrete offer has been made.

Many targets

According to the German branch of the media, Monaco would expect an offer of at least thirty-five million for its French international. Very far from the seventeen million that the recruiters of AC Milan, for example, have put on the table, also interested in the twenty-five-year-old player. Manchester United therefore knows that it would have to put an amount at least higher than the Milanese offer to succeed in interesting ASM.

One thing is certain, Erik ten Hag absolutely wants to recruit a new defensive midfielder. Manuel Ugarte and PSG have been sounded out, but the sixty million wanted by the Parisian club would have ended up dissuading the Mancunians. In various Portuguese and English media, other names have been mentioned, such as Richard Rios (Palmeiras), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) or Morten Hjulmand (Sporting).
