Manchester United are being linked with several centre-backs ahead of a potential squad reshuffle, granted everything goes to plan for new co-owners INEOS.
It remains to be seen how much the club will have available to spend in the summer, or whether Erik ten Hag will be backed into a third campaign as manager.
We are led to believe a decision on Ten Hag will come after Saturday’s FA Cup final but that hasn’t stopped United from identifying targets ahead of the transfer window.
INEOS know that United need to sell players, but they also want to be prepared to make recruits. I would vouch for more sensible buys than breaking the bank on marquee signings. Especially, when we aren’t competing in the Champions League next season.
According to the BBC, Manchester United are set to compete with Newcastle for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
This essentially means United are going head-to-head with the Magpies for Adarabioyo’s signature. Perhaps this is one of the sensible options mentioned above as INEOS look to operate shrewdly in the market.
The Man City academy product has been tipped for a move since he is out of contract in the summer.
Interestingly, Adarabioyo has been linked with other clubs such as Tottenham, Liverpool and AC Milan.
It would do United no harm to sign a young centre-back, with extensive Premier League experience and potential, on a free this season.
