Manchester United will take on Rangers for the first time in over a decade in a pre-season friendly match at Murrayfield, in Edinburgh, on Saturday 20 July.
It will be the first opportunity for fans to see the two teams face off since 2010, when a late Wayne Rooney penalty at Ibrox gave United a 1-0 victory in the group stage of the Champions League.
It’s not often you see either of these teams in the Champions League nowadays, although United did qualify this season only to get knocked out in the group phase of the competition.
The game will also mark a second successive summer visit to Murrayfield for United, after our 1-0 win over Ligue 1 side Lyon last July. That was a fantastic trip and this one promises to be the same, with a high demand expected for tickets.
Our friendly against Rangers will kick off at 16:00 BST and it will take place before the team travels to Los Angeles for the summer tour of the United States.
Former United defender Wes Brown was present at an event in Edinbrugh today along with Rangers legend Lee McCulloch to announce the friendly.
Brown told club media: “Two of the biggest clubs in British football coming together in the Scottish capital is one of those can’t-miss occasions for any football fan. Last year, when United faced Olympique Lyonnais, the fans’ support was fantastic, and I am sure, alongside the Rangers fans, the atmiosphere at this year’s game will be incredible.”
Pre-sale tickets can be purchased by club season-ticket holders, official members and official supporters’ club members now, whereas general sale tickets can be purchased from here from 10am on Friday 22 March.
