Manchester United have appointed Sam Erith as performance director until the end of the season – with INEOS making more changes to improve how the football club is run.

Erith will join the club on an interim basis after spells with England, Man City, Tottenham and New York-based Madison Square Garden Sports.

According to the Daily Mail, Erith was targeted by new sporting director, Dan Ashworth. He will be tasked with ensuring Erik ten Hag and his players are provided with an elite environment to help the team challenge for the biggest honours.

As things stand, we’re a million miles away from that after losing two of our first three matches this season.

Mike Keegan reports: “Insiders believe Erith’s role will be crucial to what they are hoping will be a United turnaround, despite a sluggish start to the season.”

Erith will report directly to Ashworth during his time at United.
