Manchester United’s asking price for Mason Greenwood has been deemed ‘unrealistic’ by clubs across Europe, according to reports.
The 22-year-old move to Getafe on loan in the final hour of last summer’s transfer window after United decided for the forward to restart his career away from Old Trafford.
Greenwood has not played for United since his arrest in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.
All charges against Greenwood were dropped last February and United had considered reintegrating him back into Erik ten Hag’s squad before the club received major backlash over his return.
United now face a fresh decision over Greenwood’s future with his loan stint with Getafe due to end next month.
According to ESPN, United have not made a final call on Greenwood but the asking price of £30 million is considered ‘unrealistic’ in the European market.
The report claims that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have expressed an interest, while Juventus is another option for the forward.
Lazio could also reignite their interest after their failed attempt to sign Greenwood last summer.
ESPN report that Greenwood’s potential return to United’s first team is ‘unlikely, but not impossible’.
Meanwhile, Getafe have made it clear that they would be keen to keep Greenwood for another season.
‘In the end his club decides and also the boy’s intentions regarding his future count,’ Getafe’s head coach Jose Bordalas said last month.
‘But I can say we are happy with his behaviour and his performance.’
Greenwood’s current contract expires next year but United have the option to trigger a 12-month extension.
