Steve McClaren is in line to become Jamaica manager.
The Manchester United coach will soon fill the vacant Jamaica job, after returning to Old Trafford in 2022 as part of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff which has seen multiple changes this summer.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake are just two of the new coaches that have arrived at United in the last month.
McClaren worked with Ten Hag previously during his time coaching FC Twente, but their journey together at United may be about to end.
If McClaren does become Jamaica’s manager, as is being reported tonight via The Independent, it will be his first international job since he was in charge of England. His last managerial role was at QPR five years ago.
Jamaica have been without a head coach since Heimir Hallgrimsson left earlier this month, only for the Icelandic coach to become the Republic of Ireland manager.
Former Manchester United duo Steve Bruce and Dwight Yorke are among other names to have been linked with the Reggae Boyz vacancy.
If a deal materialises for McClaren to become Jamaica manager, we’ll certainly wish him the very best following a second spell as assistant manager at Old Trafford.
McClaren is part of the furniture at United. He’ll forever have a place in the club’s history.
