Former Arsenal academy sensation Chido Obi-Martin has completed his transfer to Manchester United.
Manchester United received formal communication from the Premier League this morning that their prolonged ratification process for Obi-Martin’s deal has reached completion.
That scoop was originally posted by Academy Scoop on X, formerly known as Twitter, and relayed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano just minutes later.
This essentially means Obi-Martin can now be considered a new Manchester United player.
The 16-year-old decided to leave Arsenal’s academy, where he was offered a new deal to stay, to advance his career at Old Trafford. He once caught the eye by scoring 10 goals in one match against Liverpool.
The Premier League’s 5-step process has been completed which is what we’ve been waiting on.
Obi-Martin has already completed his medical examinations and is now set to sign his contract.
It wasn’t ideal for Obi-Martin to spend the past few weeks without a club, nor training with United but he can now put that behind him and focus on his development in the best environment.
The childish side of me enjoys the petty fact we’ve pipped one of our rivals’ most exciting academy products. Hopefully, Obi-Martin can come back to bite Arsenal in the future after spending two years in their academy.
