Manchester United are understood to be confident that Ruben Amorim will be in place to take charge of the team against Chelsea on Sunday.
This update comes from Pete Hall at iNews following claims in Portugal that United will have to pay extra money, on top of a termination clause, to waive a 30-day notice period.
Between sacking Erik ten Hag and potentially hiring Amorim as his successor, The Athletic claims that it will prove costly for INEOS, who will tackle any financial issues further down the line. It may restrict United’s spending in the January transfer window or even beyond.
INEOS have been proactive in getting their desired man, and one Sporting fan reacted to the news on Portuguese TV by bursting into tears. Others gave Amorim a warm reception at what looks to be his final game as manager last night.
It remains to be seen if United can get the deal done this week, or even in time for Sunday’s rival Premier League clash against Chelsea.
The Blues have been flying it this season under their new manager, Enzo Maresca, and they will want to avoid a new manager bounce at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy won’t know how long he has in the role, or if he’ll even remain at the club, but he’ll be aiming for a strong start nonetheless.
The Dutchman has a strong CV from his time at PSV Eindhoven and there will be no shortage of offers if he leaves Old Trafford following Amorim’s arrival.
