Manchester United have today confirmed that Lucia Garcia will be leaving the club when her contract expires at the end of June.

It means her time as a Red Devil draws to a close after just two years, during which she scored 11 Women’s Super League goals.

The 25-year-old also played an influential role in United claiming their first-ever major trophy in the form of the FA Cup last season, scoring twice in the final as the Reds overturned Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in front of a packed-out Wembley Stadium.

Despite wanting to stay put in M16, Garcia was offered significantly improved terms to make the switch to Mexican outfit Monterrey.

Her exit is expected to be followed up by a widely speculated move for Mary Earps, who is also out of contract this summer. The Lionesses goalkeeper is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain amidst United’s best efforts to keep hold of her.
