Manchester United have confirmed a double injury blow ahead of the new season.
According to The Mirror, club sources have revealed that new signing Leny Yoro will be out for three months with a foot injury suffered in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in the first match of their US tour.
Yoro was filmed on crutches and with his left foot in a protective plastic boot in the US.
To make matters worse, Rasmus Hojlund will also miss the start of the 2024/25 campaign with a hamstring issue, although the Danish striker is only expected to be ruled out for around six weeks.
This will raise further questions about United dipping into the transfer market for another centre-back, amid links to Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
Losing key players to injury is not how Erik ten Hag or his staff wanted to prepare for the new season, but here we are, in similar territory to last season when our defence was depleted by injuries.
United are currently taking on Real Betis in San Diego and we’ll be hoping the squad can get through the game without any fresh injuries or niggles.
