Rhys Bennett is set to become the seventh player to leave Manchester United on loan in January with a move to League Two on the cards.

The 20-year-old defender has been open to leaving the club this month as he wants his first taste of senior football in the Football League.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Bennett has signed for League Two leaders Stockport County until the end of the season.

An announcement is expected to be made today ahead of Stockport County’s clash with Notts County this weekend, which means Bennett could be in line to make his debut immediately.

United may have had their injury problems in defence this season, but Bennett was unable to get a look in like Willy Kambwala.

However, Bennett has been named on the bench four times by Ten Hag, including two separate occasions this term.

Bennett has made 67 appearances for United across youth teams and was part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022.

We would like to wish him the best of luck for the remainder of the season at Stockport County.
