Barcelona are facing a race against time as they look to register their summer signing Dani Olmo in the coming few days.
The Catalans have until December 31 to register Olmo, whose salary was initially pegged against Andreas Christensen. But that temporary measure expires at the end of the month.
Barcelona are actively working on many economic levers that may help them register Olmo while also exploring the judicial route.
Should Barça fail to register Olmo in time, the player has a special clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for free, making him eligible to hold talks with other European clubs.
Man United eye move for Olmo
According to BBC Manchester Radio, Manchester United have emerged as a potential suitor for Olmo as his registration woes drag on.
The Premier League giants are exploring a move for the Barcelona playmaker, should the Catalans fail to register him in time.
This comes against the backdrop of Olmo’s agent recently arriving in England, with Arsenal and Manchester City closely tracking the player’s situation.
It appears Man United, too, have joined the race as the Red Devils desperately look for some reinforcements in the creative department.
Olmo has a solid market in the Premier League thanks to his superb track record at RB Leipzig as well as the Spanish national team.
However, it must be noted that Olmo’s priority is to continue at Barcelona. The club, for their part, are also optimistic about the registration process, despite time running out.
Barcelona are betting big on yet another precautionary measure. But if that plan fails, Barça have the option to sell VIP seat sales of Camp Nou, which could provide an inflow of €120 million.
