Manchester United eye Bournemouth star to fix left-back problem

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

The Reds have more than one priority area that needs to be addressed this summer. The need for a new left-back exists because Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia missed too much football last season.

It’s a shame because I don’t think there is a better left-back in the world than Shaw when he’s fully fit, whereas the jury was still out on Malacia at the beginning of the season.

That means United need to identify talented left-backs this summer, with Bournemouth’s Kerkez popping up on the club’s radar.

Bournemouth fought off interest to sign Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar last year, for a reported fee of £15.5 million. The talented 20-year-old made 33 appearances (22 starts) in his debut campaign and we’ll see him representing Hungary at Euro 2024.

The European Championships start later this month and it presents an opportunity for several players to perform their way into the transfer market.

According to talkSPORT, as cited by the Daily Echo, Bournemouth would demand a ‘high fee’ for Kerkez.

When asked how Kerkez was handing the speculation surrounding his future, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said: “I think for everyone, you have to focus on the things you control.

“The best thing for a football player is to try to do your job the best you can.

“This is the only thing that will put you in the best position.

“I think that is what everyone should try to do. I try to also do my part and focus on your job, that is what will put you in a better position.”

Kerkez is estimated to be worth £26m, as per CIES Gootball Observatory.
