Roma starlet Dean Huijsen has enjoyed an incredible breakthrough season on loan at Juventus. The 18-year-old prospect has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months as the club steps up its efforts to strengthen their centre-back options ahead of next season.
If I had a preference over some of our business this season, I think we should be signing two young centre-backs. Why not spend big on the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and look at another prospect at a cheaper price?
Huijsen has impressed this season and there have been suggestions that United are not the only Premier League club tracking his emergence.
According to a report by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by TEAMtalk, Newcastle are ‘pressing’ the most to sign Huijsen.
Liverpool are another Premier League club that has been credited with an interest in him.
Huijsen was born in the Netherlands, however, he plays his international football for Spain at U21 level.
United will be saying goodbye to defenders this summer
I don’t think we’ll see Raphael Varane or Aaron Wan-Bissaka at United next season. Things change but as of now, I believe both will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer.
A return to London is most likely for Wan-Bissaka, who has fallen out of favour at right-back ever since Diogo Dalot’s form peaked.
On the other hand, Varane is past it. I’d also argue that we should keep Harry Maguire over Victor Lindelof but we’ll leave that for another day.
