Manchester United have been closely linked with a move for Manuel Ugarte, but Paris Saint-Germain remain reluctant to accept any bids lower than what they paid for the defensive midfielder last year.
Some reports suggest the Ligue 1 champions have set a £59m price tag on Ugarte, after forking out a hefty fee for Joao Neves from Benfica, as per Fabrizio Romano.
They paid €60m to sign Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
French outlet L’Equipe claim PSG are willing to accept a loan deal for Ugarte with a lucrative buy option.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been on United’s radar all summer and it is understood that he has verbally agreed personal terms with the club.
United were hopeful of selling Casemiro this summer, but interest cooled from Saudi Arabia and it wouldn’t surprise us if he started the new season in Erik ten Hag’s line-up against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Fans would be excited about the arrival of a younger defensive-minded midfielder because Casemiro isn’t getting any young. The Brazilian performed abysmally last season and needs to step up if he is to stay at the club for another campaign. It could be beneficial to both United and Casemiro that he wasn’t involved in any major international tournaments ahead of the 2024/25 season.
