Manchester United are set to go through a transitional phase when Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority owner, starts his work at the club.

The British billionaire reached an agreement to pay an estimated £1.3 million for a 25% share in the Red Devils. Ratcliffe and his right-hand man, Sir Dave Brailsford, are now auditing the team, even though the Premier League has not yet approved the sale.

The Sun claims that Ratcliffe is eager to spend money on British players, and he has already offered a contract to Scott McTominay in an attempt to ward off recent approaches from West Ham and Bayern Munich.

A number of homegrown players who Manchester United may seek in the near future have been identified by The Express, and Conor Gallagher is an interesting addition to their list.

Since the 23-year-old is approaching the last 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, there has been conjecture over his future at Chelsea in recent months.

The English midfielder has started 20 of Chelsea’s 21 Premier League games this season. He has proved himself to be one of Chelsea’s best performers. However, the London club is reportedly open to bids for players whose contracts are expiring.

Gallagher’s future was discussed by Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino last month, as Spurs were heavily linked to the midfield player. He said:

“I am talking before, this situation is between the club and the player, it’s difficult for any coach to talk, it’s a decision by the club and the player.

“I’m coaching the team, trying to make the best choice as possible to perform. At the moment, so far, he’s doing well, fantastic for the team. He’s playing because he deserves.”
