Chelsea rejects assemble.

Last summer it was Mason Mount, but now talks are underway to potentially take Raheem Sterling from Stamford Bridge. One player likely to be offered to the Reds doesn’t have many admirers at Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have no desire to launch a bid for Ben Chilwell, who is also being frozen out of first-team plans at Chelsea.

United have both senior left-backs – Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia – injured which means Diogo Dalot, a right-back, is having to cover on the opposite flank.

The biggest problem with Chilwell is his worrying injury record. I don’t think United are going to fall for such a trap. They would be stupid to move for such an injury-prone player to replace injury-prone players.

Shaw is due back next month but less is known about Malacia’s injury.

United youngster Harry Amass impressed at left-back during the pre-season tour of the United States.
