Manchester United have two fresh doubts ahead of Newport County clash

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be without two players for Sunday when his team travel to face Newport County at Rodney Parade in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Reds are back in action this weekend after enduring a winter break.

Ten Hag is expected to name a strong side for the match, even though on paper it should be walk in the park for United against the League Two side. That said, we are no in a position to underestimate any team this season.

The manager will be hoping to welcome back a few players to his line-up, but he has revealed that he has two fresh doubts due to illness.

Defender Jonny Evans and forward Marcus Rashford have both reported to training with illnesses leaving them as doubts for Sunday’s match.

Ten Hag told MUTV (via Manchester Evening News): “It’s a strong side and we have still some injuries, like [Victor] Lindelof and [Tyrell Malacia]. This morning, Rashford was will and Evans was ill. So we have to see how they recover but we have, for the rest, players returning, like Martinez, like Shaw, like Maguire, like Casemiro, which is a good thing.”

Meanwhile, the boss used his press conference to confirm that Altay Bayindir will be handed his debut against Newport County. The Turkey international joined United from Fenerbahce this summer and has been waiting for his first appearance.
