Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks likely to leave.

After a disappointing draw against Bournemouth on Saturday evening, the Red Devils currently sit in the seventh spot in the Premier League table and are potentially on for their worst-ever season in the English top division.

Whether Erik ten Hag remains at the club after this season ends or not, the Manchester club will no doubt be busy in the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Christian Falk writing for Caught Offside, United has already held ‘concrete talks’ with Dutch defender Frimpong.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in his position over the past few seasons and has caught the eye of several top European clubs including Bayern Munich.

According to the report, Frimpong’s contract doesn’t expire until the year 2028 but he does have a release clause that would allow him to leave for €40 million.

Ten Hag has shown an affinity for Dutch players, as seen with the signings of Lisandro Martinez and Anthony, which adds more fire to the rumours surrounding the attacking right back.

If he was to arrive at Old Trafford however, the Dutch manager may be forced to sell one of Wan-Bissaka or Diogo Dalot who both occupy that position.

One of the biggest criticisms of United over the past few seasons is the lack of attacking full-backs, with the former Crystal Palace man almost solely a defensive player.

With their lack of depth out on the right wing, a player with Frimpong’s attacking qualities could completely revamp the squad.
