Manchester United are set to sit down with Kobbie Mainoo once the transfer window shuts to discuss new terms for the blossoming midfielder.
The England international has enjoyed a meteoric rise since bursting on the scene last season. Now, he is one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s teamsheet most weeks.
Over the summer, Mainoo worked his way into Gareth Southgate’s England side for the latter stages of Euro 2024. The Three Lions lost the final against Spain before Southgate stepped down as manager.
This is a player United could easily build the team around for the coming years. The same could be said for England – but we care a lot less for that and international football in general.
According to Sky Sports, United are set to offer Mainoo a new deal once the summer transfer window has shut.
United will be looking to reward Mainoo for his performances and hope he commits his long-term future to the club.
The Reds have no need to rush through negotiations, with the 19-year-old already on a long-term contract, so it may just be a matter of extending the deal with improved terms.
It is also suggested that Mainoo’s camp are relaxed given his current deal runs until 2027 with the option of an extra year.
