Manchester United hold an interest in signing Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, according to reports.
German side Leipzig have slapped a €75,000,000 (£62m) price tag on the 21-year-old, who is expected to move on in the next summer transfer window.
The Daily Mail report that United are back among the clubs keen on the Slovenia international, who attracted lots of interest ahead of the current season.
Sesko was linked to United, Arsenal and Chelsea – but he ended up agreeing a new deal with Leipzig – and it was decided that he wouldn’t be sold until 2025.
The Slovenian has been in fine form this season, conjuring up nine goal involvements across his opening nine matches in all competitions.
Sesko has particularly impressed in the Champions League, scoring three times in Leipzig’s first two fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Juventus respectively.
There is no doubt about Sesko’s ability – and potential – but United face a battle to bring him to Old Trafford.
Firstly, United are not the only side who want to sign Sekso, with Arsenal also refusing to give up on a deal for the forward.
Secondly, Sekso is keen to secure Champions League football, a competition that United failed to quality for last term.
‘I thought it through very well,’ Sesko said of his decision to stay one more year with Leipzig in the Bundesliga before a possible switch to the Premier League.
‘I believe I made the right decision. I wanted to gain more experience, learn more, and not rush things.
‘Leipzig is an excellent club that can provide what I need for the next step. Leipzig’s vision is clear; everything is geared towards growth, progress, and high goals.
‘I felt it was right to decide this way.’
