Manchester United could join Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign Brentford forward Ivan Toney this summer.
The striker will have one year left on his Brentford deal at the end of the season and the Bees are certain to cash in on the England international.
Toney returned from an eight-month ban in January and has scored four times in ten appearances this term.
He is set to make his full England debut in Tuedsay’s friendly against Belgium as he looks to stake a claim for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s European Championships squad.
Toney is valued at around £80m by Brentford but this summer is their last opportunity to achieve a high price for the 28-year-old, as he’ll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January 2025.
United have relied too heavily on Rasmus Hojlund this term, with Anthony Martial missing much of the campaign through injury.
The Frenchman will depart Old Trafford this summer when his contract expires and United plan on signing a new striker.
And, while Chelsea and Arsenal are in the mix for Toney, Fabrizio Romano says United could enter the race.
‘It’s just one of the options to be considered and discussed internally,’ he told Caught Offside.
‘As I said here multiple times, Man United are still in early stages of the process to decide which striker they want to sign; experienced or young.
‘Talks are going to take place internally, Toney will be one of the names available on the market so could be one to watch.’
