Manchester United have been linked with a move for free agent Adrien Rabiot, and the latest update on the Frenchman rules out a potential return to Juventus.

Rabiot’s contract at Juventus expired during the summer. After struggling to find a new club, the media suggested that he could return to Turin.

However, that no longer appears to be the case.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Rabiot already turned down a new deal worth around £6m-a-season to stay at Juventus.

The only surprise is that he has yet to find a new club.

Even though the transfer window has shut, the 29-year-old can still join Premier League clubs as a free agent. The Mirror have linked two Premier League clubs with a move including United. Rabiot’s other option in England appears to be the less appealing Newcastle.

The midfielder’s mother/agent has insisted a return to Juventus is not on the table, with the Frenchman still being linked with a free transfer switch to United.

Veronique Rabiot said via The Mirror: “There is no need to close the door, returning to Juventus was not an option considered. When we make decisions, we take responsibility for them.”

Rabiot was close to joining United in 2022 after a £15m fee was negotiated with Juventus. The deal collapsed because personal terms couldn’t be agreed.
