Sevilla boss Quique Sanchez Flores has admitted that Hannibal Mejbri will sit out first-team football for the foreseeable future.

It comes after a tough start to life in LaLiga after joining the struggling side on loan from Manchester United earlier this month.

The Tunisia international has immense talent and coaches at Old Trafford believe he can become a key player in the future.

But the 21-year-old is in need of regular minutes to continue his development.

However, that no longer appears to be the case at Sevilla after Flores revealed that he is out of the first-team picture for now.

Speaking this week, the Sevilla boss said: "After being with him, talking to him and having seen his first minutes in Girona, we are going to give him the necessary space to understand where he is, that he is at Sevilla and what it means.

"He has to know where he is and we want to see him.

"We have spoken with him and we believe that he has to have some time to learn, we wanted to give him space, time for him to see things from the outside and then he will return to the squad.

"In the end they are kids who have come and suddenly land in a huge club like Sevilla in circumstances of maximum demand. And they need a bit of location.

"And that location may be seen better from the outside than from the inside.

Hannibal made a less-than-impressive debut for Sevilla after coming on as a sub against Girona in a 5-1 loss.

Within seconds, he was in the referee's book and received a yellow card and was subsequently left out of Sevilla's next matchday squad against Osasuna.

Sevilla are in the midst of a crisis season battling to stay in LaLiga and find themselves 17th in the league, just a point above the relegation zone.
