Manchester United are reportedly very interested in signing wonderkid Mathys Tel and have already made contact with Bayern Munich over a potential deal.

Signing a new forward is high on Erik ten Hag’s wishlist, with Anthony Martial set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.

That would leave United with Rasmus Hojlund as their only striker option and while the young Dane has started to find his feet at the club, more depth is required.

To that end, Sky Germany claim that Tel has been identified as a potential transfer target, and talks between United and Bayern have already begun.

However, there are two other unnamed English clubs who are interested in the 18-year-old, who can play as both a winger and centre-forward .

Tel moved to Munich from Rennes in 2022 for £25million and despite his tender years there is already much hype surrounding the France youth international.

However, he has scarcely been allowed to showcase his potential, having made jus seven starts for the German giants so far, with the likes of Harry Kane, Leroy Sane and Jama Musiala firmly ahead in the pecking order.

Nevertheless, he has still scored 12 times in 54 appearances so far, including a stoppage time goal against United in the Champions League earlier this season.

It is said that Tel would prefer to stay at Munich and fight for his place but will reconsider this if game time does not increase under Thomas Tuchel.

A loan exit has already been ruled out, while the teenager’s contract expires in 2027 so any transfer will not come cheap.
