Between 1986 and 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson (82) led Manchester United masterfully, winning 38 titles in all competitions. Since his departure, the residents of Old Trafford have had the greatest difficulty replacing him. For his part, the Scotsman is still linked to the English club, since he has retained the title of global ambassador and manager (administrator on the Board of Directors) within MU. Paid for his missions, Fergie will nevertheless be put aside.

The Athletic reveals this Tuesday that Ineos, new co-owner of the British team, wishes to further reduce costs. For this reason, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his teams have decided to end the multi-million euro annual agreement between the Red Devils and Sir Alex Ferguson. The latter was informed and he took the news very well. The Athletic specifies that he will remain non-executive director of the club (he will not be paid, editor’s note) and that he will be welcome to attend Mancuniens’ matches.
