Thirty-seven small matches and then he’s gone? In Paris, they haven’t given up on the idea of seeing Manuel Ugarte (23 years old) leave, just one year after snatching the Uruguayan midfielder from Sporting Portugal for €60 million. The mystery still remains about the player’s loss of credit with Luis Enrique after an excellent start to the season, but what is certain is that PSG are pushing to part with him.
At the moment, only one destination seems possible for the South American: Manchester United. Erik ten Hag is waiting for him impatiently and Relevo indicates that Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, is working hard to close the deal after MU had let go. The only problem is that the Red Devils can’t spend without counting. This Tuesday, the British media reminded us of the two possible scenarios for the club dear to Sir Alex Ferguson.
MU already calms the game
If Manchester manages to slim down, a transfer of Ugarte will be attempted. On the other hand, if the Mancunians do not manage to get rid of their undesirables, the idea would be to obtain a loan. And according to the Daily Mail and the TelegraphPSG is open to this second option! The two English media even claim that the capital club has offered the Red Devils a loan with an obligation to buy. But there is a catch for MU.
Paris wants the amount of this mandatory purchase option to be €60 million, in order to recover its initial outlay. An amount which, even if it will only be payable next year, is considered too high by the Manchester management. At least, until the club has collected any cash. With ten days to go until the end of the transfer window, time is on the English side, who could wait until the last moment to make a final offer that is more to their advantage.
