Manchester United are on the verge of completing a transfer for Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Most of the deals completed by United this summer happened quickly, although the Ugarte saga has existed since the transfer window opened.
Some reports suggested Ugarte’s move to United could go down to the wire, with Friday being the deadline for transfers. The process has been drawn out but we should soon have the Uruguay international added to Erik ten Hag’s squad.
ESPN Uruguay. claim Ugarte will soon be a United player and will travel to England in the “next few hours” to complete his medical and sign the required paperwork.
Meanwhile, football journalist Duncan Castles claims United agreed a transfer fee with PSG last night and he will undergo his medical examinations with his new club today.
The fee is believed to be €50m plus €10m in add-ons.
We will be following this story throughout the day for more updates, so stay tuned.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio provided an update on Ugarte, too, writing (via bettingexpert H/t Manchester Evening News): “I think that Manuel Ugarte will go to Man Utd because he always wanted United. He agreed personal terms for a lot of days and I think that he will go to United. Man Utd are talking to Napoli to agree the final details of McTominay.
“The way is McTominay out and Ugarte in. The three clubs, PSG, Man Utd and Napoli are trying to do this linked deal. To get this deal done, McTominay has to solve his problems with United by agreeing exit terms.
“If he agrees to the exit terms, Napoli are ready to get him because they have already agreed a deal with United for about €30.5 million. If McTominay goes to Napoli, then Ugarte will be his replacement in Manchester.”
