Manchester United’s move for Manuel Ugarte has stalled as they are refusing to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price, according to reports.
United have made the signing of the Uruguay international one of their priorities this summer after securing deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
It’s understood that Ugarte has informed PSG that he only wants to join United this summer, while the Premier League side have already agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old.
However, United have yet to reach an agreement over a fee with PSG.
According to The Athletic, PSG are holding out for a €60 million (£51.4m) for Ugarte and United have made it clear that they are unwilling to meet their valuation.
The report claims that United and PSG are ‘quite far apart’ in reaching an agreement, and United are now exploring alternative midfield targets.
United, meanwhile, are also in talks with Bayern Munich over a double deal for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
United’s joint bid of £51m was rejected by Bayern Munich last week, and the German club are demanding a £64m fee for both players.
Speaking last week, Erik ten Hag admitted that the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules are having an impact on United’s transfer plans.
‘Every club has those limitations,’ said Ten Hag.
‘The FFP rules for every club is there. Also, we have to manage this and go with those rules.
‘We have to manage it as good as possible to construct the best squad possible.’
