Manchester United are reportedly interested in one Chelsea player who could leave the London club in January.
The summer transfer window hasn’t been shut for very long, but media outlets are already preparing for it to open again in January.
One club with too many players is Chelsea because they were unable to get rid of all those players they deemed surplus to requirements in the summer.
As a result, Chelsea have players who aren’t playing regular football taking a weekly wage, which is an unsustainable model. These players include Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chilwell and Chukwuemeka are examples of players who will be looking at their futures between now and January, hoping there will be an exit route from Stamford Bridge available. They have no future under Enzo Maresca.
Maresca’s decisions have been backed up because Chelsea are winning football matches again. They are back to being a force for the top four, which is bad news for United as we try to play catch-up for the rest of the season.
Manchester United eye Chilwell as left-back option

The report states that Chelsea are expecting a quiet January in terms of both incomings and outgoings, as they are happy with how things are going under Maresca.
However, Chilwell is one of a few players who could leave Stamford Bridge as he continues to get overlooked by the manager.
I never got the impression that we were interested in Chilwell when the rumours surfaced before the season got underway. However, that doesn’t change the fact we’ve struggled at left-back due to a lack of cover for Luke Shaw.
To make matters worse for United, Tyrell Malacia hasn’t kicked a ball this season after missing the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign due to injury. The Netherlands international is still recovering.
The best idea for United is to wait and see whether Shaw or Malacia can return and perform in the first team before Christmas. It may be worth considering a loan deal if we reach the midway point of the season without a recognised left-back.
Diogo Dalot has been playing at left-back since the beginning of the season, while new signing Noussair Mazraoui has slotted in on the opposite flank.
