Manchester United are confident they would recoup the money they spent on Amad Diallo should the club choose to sell him this summer.

The Ivory Coast winger was the matchwinner against Liverpool on Sunday, scoring a dramatic 121st minute goal in front of the Stretford End to send United through to the semi-finals.

After injuring his knee on the pre-season tour and spending five months on the sidelines, it was the highlight of an otherwise frustrating campaign for Diallo.

The former Atalanta winger had played just 63 minutes of football before he came off the bench on Sunday in the 84th minute.

United spent £18m on the winger in 2020, with the potential for the deal to go up to £37m.

But Diallo has just 15 months left on his current deal, and United have the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Omari Forson fighting for a place on the right wing, not to mention Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood also being on the books.

The club could therefore reluctantly look to sell him this summer, and the Times say United are confident they would at least get their money back on Diallo.

A decision will be made this summer, as United look to raise as much as £100m in the transfer window.

Donny van de Beek, Casemiro, Antony, Victor Lindelof and Sancho could all be sold.

Anthony Martial and Jonny Evans will leave in July when their contracts expire, while Raphael Varane could do the same.
