A decision will soon be made on the future of Erik ten Hag, but it remains to be seen what direction Manchester United will take following an end-of-season review.

The new football executive team must decide if they believe in Ten Hag’s approach or if the team will benefit from new ideas.

If you believe what is being reported elsewhere, Ten Hag has backers within United’s new hierarchy. There has also been a significant push from fans to see the Dutchman remain as manager for a third season. It is understood that Ineos are aware of the support for Ten Hag within United’s fanbase.

It remains to be seen how long the end-of-season review will take. No deadline has been set and there are indications that it could run on for days before an announcement is made on Ten Hag’s future.

According to The Telegraph, there are four key areas being considered in the season review, and they include: results and performance, playing style and tactics, dressing room relations, as well as credentials and cost of potential replacements.

The decision to sack Ten Hag was undoubtedly made tricker over the weekend when United lifted the FA Cup for the 13th time, as our manager collected his second trophy in as many years.

Ten Hag has brought success to United. Without any outstanding candidates to succeed him, why make this summer more complicated by switching managers? It doesn’t make a lot of sense and would take a lot of explaining for fans to get onside.

The longer it drags out the worse it will get in regards to media speculation.
