Erik ten Hag’s future is dominating the headlines again.

While it is understood that the Dutchman still retains the dressing-room’s support, a number of Manchester United players are increasingly doubtful that he will be in charge next season.

According to the Daily Mail, many in the United squad believe it is likely new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos Sports group will make a change at the end of the season by sacking Ten Hag.

That would suggest the writing may be already on the wall for Ten Hag, who has yet to receive a public backing from Ratcliffe.

Chris Wheeler reporters: “Although Ten Hag insists he is on the same page as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford, and feels aligned with them on the back of positive conversations, he has confided to coaching staff and agents that he has no guarantees over his future at Old Trafford.”

It is also stated in the article that Ten Hag could earn a stay if he wins the FA Cup and qualifies for the Champions League. Both are big asks for a side going through a difficult season.

One of the biggest complaints from the dressing-room come from the intensity of Ten Hag’s training regime, so I wonder if those players will demand assurances that the next manager will make training a walk in the park instead?

The lack of clarity could become an issue for Ten Hag. It can’t be an easy environment to work in without the backing of those above you.
