Anthony Martial has no intention of quitting Manchester United this month amid interest from Marseille and Fenerbahce.

The 28-year-old has also been attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs but is intent on seeing out the remaining months of his current contract.

Martial joined United nine years ago from Monaco when he was regarded as one of the most exciting young forwards in European football.

His Old Trafford career has largely been a story of ‘what ifs’, however, with injuries increasingly playing a part in his demise.

Martial demonstrated arguably his most consistent run of form in a United shirt under the manager of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and scored 23 goals during the 2019 / 20 season.

His body has let him down continuously since then, and he has been reduced to a bit-part role under Erik ten Hag following his return from a dismal loan spell at Sevilla.

So far this term, Martial has scored just two goals from 19 appearances and hasn’t featured since a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Bournemouth a month ago.

Despite his latest prolonged spell of inactivity, Martial has drawn interest from a number of European clubs but, according to Sky Sports, he has no plans to leave the Premier League giants mid-season.

The prospect of him signing a new long-term deal, however, remains unlikely in the extreme and he is primed to leave as a free agent.

Ten Hag’s decision to haul off Martial in the defeat against the Cherries was greeted with ironic cheers and a smattering of boos in December, after which the Dutchman launched a strong defence of his most experienced forward.

‘Two weeks ago against Everton he played a very good game so he has absolutely the competences and abilities to play,’ he said.

‘So I don’t think it is fair, after a performance like this, to go to one player.

‘We as a group failed all together.’
