Harry Maguire is among three England players preparing to report for international duty earlier than their compatriots.
As per Mail Sport, the Manchester United star has decided to skip a family holiday in favour of putting his fitness first and, hopefully, recovering from injury in time for the Euros kick-off.
He has been out of action since the beginning of May with a muscle complaint and will undergo three training sessions per day with England staff.
Maguire, 31, was included in Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional squad for the Three Lions’ forthcoming friendlies, after which the manager’s selection will be reduced to 26 before the tournament begins on June 14.
Given that he’s been one of Southgate’s most trusted lieutenants in recent years, you’d expect that Maguire makes the final cut.
Shaw in race against time to make Euros deadline
As is the case for fellow Red Luke Shaw, who is also arriving at camp early – along with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon – to work on his recovery. The left-back has endured yet another injury-plagued campaign, which has seen him limited to 15 appearances in total across 2023/2024.
