There has been lots of drama in Lisbon tonight where Manchester United’s new head manager Ruben Amorim is currently leading Pep Guardiola’s side 4-1.

Sporting Lisbon host Man City at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in the Champions League, with Amorim taking charge of the team for the final time in Europe.

City opened the scoring after four minutes through Phil Foden, and to make matters worse Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres missed a 1-v-1 opportunity when tries to dink the ball over Ederson in the aftermath.

However, Sporting equalised before the break when Gyokeres scored from a similar position as he bounced the ball over Ederson this time.

The Portuguese champions came from behind to take the lead against City after the break, 20 seconds of the restart, courtesy of a quick passage of play.

Araujo finished off a brilliant team move when he slotted the ball past Ederson.

Gyokeres completed his brace minutes later when he converted a penalty kick. The Swede now has 22 goals this season and appears to be one of the most sought-after players in Europe after drawing links to Barcelona as well as United.

There was more drama after the hour mark when City won a penalty appeal. Erling Haaland stood up only to miss his spot kick after hitting the woodwork.

Sporting fans were overjoyed with the outcome and will hope their team, under Amorim, who will arrive at United on November 11.

Gyokeres made it a hat-trick after 81 minutes of play to leave City in utter disbelief. His right-footed shot tucked into the bottom left corner, squeezing it past a diving Ederson.

It is a remarkable result for a side that have gone unbeaten in 10 league matches this season. Their fans will hate seeing Amorim leave but he’ll be welcome at United after such a poor start to the Premier League season.

Guardiola’s side have failed to prevent a third straight defeat in all competitions after defeats to Bournemouth in the Premier League and Tottenham in the League Cup.
